Welcome to GENSAT –
Supporting Women, Empowering Change

At GENSAT (Gender Specific Addiction Treatment), we understand that every woman's journey is unique. That's why we're here to offer compassionate, tailored support for women in Wexford, Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny, and South Tipperary who are facing challenges with substance use. Our website logo was designed by members of the GENSAT women's group to reflect their struggles in recovery.

Launched by the Cornmarket Project in partnership with the HSE's Substance Misuse Service, GENSAT builds on the success of the Wexford Women's Substance Misuse Service. Our trauma-informed, gender-specific approach addresses the real-life barriers women often face, from childcare responsibilities and social stigma to the risk of homelessness.

We believe that recovery is possible in the right environment, one where you feel safe, understood, and supported. At GENSAT, you'll find a non-judgmental space where you can take the first steps toward healing, hope, and a brighter future.

You're not alone – we're here to help.

Testimonials

"I found the GENSAT women's service to be very mind-opening. It showed me the problems that women with addiction problems like me have to face and how to overcome them or where to go to ask for help. Also it helped me deal with my drug use by feeling better in my own skin and I don't feel alone anymore when it comes to problems I had with drugs or with the fact that I am a woman! Because every woman in my situation goes through the same things, especially when it comes to confidence"  - Maria, Kilkenny

"Since the women's service was introduced by the Cornmarket Project I have really enjoyed it, I feel it is a space where I can truly be myself and speak about things very open and honestly without fear of judgement and where I feel supported and heard." - Jane, Waterford

"What I like about the women's service is that we can share relevant and similar experiences while gaining advice from others in a safe and supportive environment without being judged."  - Mary, Carlow

Funding for the Gender Specific Addiction Treatment Service comes from the Department of Health via the HSE Social Inclusion Service in the Southeast and is a collaboration between the HSE, the Cornmarket Project and the South East Regional Drug and Alcohol Task Force.
